High Blood Pressure Awareness

What is high blood pressure?

High blood pressure (also referred to as HBP, or hypertension) is when your blood pressure, the force of blood flowing through your blood vessels, is consistently too high.

Management and Prevention

Regularly monitoring your blood pressure, with support from your health care team, can help lower your risk for heart disease and stroke. You can check your blood pressure at the doctor’s office, at a pharmacy, or even at home.

High blood pressure is considered a “silent killer” because most of the time there are not obvious signs that someone has it. Regular blood pressure checks and a healthy lifestyle will reduce the risk of health threats associated with high blood pressure.
